As the National Two Sessions draw near, Liu Xiaokang, a National Committee Member of the CPPCC and the president of Chongqing University of Technology, is still constantly improving his suggestions for this year. Liu Xiaokang's school is a high - level new engineering construction university in Chongqing characterized by "in - depth integration of industry, academia, research, and application". How to precisely match the talents cultivated by higher education with social needs has been a topic that Liu Xiaokang has been concerned about for a long time and is also the focus of his duties as a committee member.

Liu Xiaokang has always been concerned about the issue of talent cultivation in universities. His proposal "On Optimizing the Evaluation Orientation of University Disciplines and Organized Promotion of Professional Settings" submitted during last year's session was identified as a good proposal of the National CPPCC in 2024 and was taken seriously and adopted by relevant ministries such as the Ministry of Education. "This is different from the scientific research honors I've received. It is recognition of my performance as a committee member and, more importantly, a responsibility," he said.

"There is still much to be discovered about the regular patterns in promoting the construction of university majors and disciplines. I'm going to seize this period of time to think more carefully with higher standards." This year, he is going to continue to offer suggestions on this topic.
