Flowers, snow coexist on Changbai Mountain

　　Tourists got a chance to enjoy both summer and winter scenery recently as they visited Changbai Mountain Scenic Area in Jilin province.

　　While alpine azaleas are in full bloom at the foot of the mountain, higher altitudes remain covered with snow. The frozen Tianchi Lake, located at the top of the volcanic cone of the main peak of Changbai Mountain, will melt as summer temperatures rise.

　　The mountain, which borders the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, remains frozen for most of the year. It has long been a major tourist destination in all seasons.

　　The lake is the highest, largest and deepest crater lake in the world.
