Warm Arrival: Setting Off from the Black Soil, She Leads Villagers toward a "Happy Road" with New Farming Tools

As a deputy to the National People’s Congress and a new-type farmer from Lishu County, Siping City, Jilin Province—a major grain-producing county in China—Han Fengxiang has spared no effort in promoting new technologies and new concepts on the black soil.

In 2010, Han Fengxiang quit her urban job and returned to her hometown to start a business, establishing a specialized farmers’ cooperative. Over the years, she has led fellow villagers in scientific farming to achieve common prosperity. In the past, villagers used to call her “Little Han Ya”; now they prefer to address her as “Farmer Technician Han”.

Every field is a test paper. Drones, no-tillage seeders, smart agricultural monitoring systems, and mobile apps have become farmers’ “new hoes”. Cutting-edge agricultural technologies keep emerging in the fields, boosting quality and efficiency in grain production.

With a strong sense of mission, she keeps moving forward. Han Fengxiang visits villages and households to listen to the voices and expectations of farmers, cooperative members and agricultural experts. She takes careful notes of their concerns and ideas on black soil conservation, high-standard farmland development, and grain income security.

2026 marks the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan period, making work on agriculture, rural areas and farmers all the more important. The key to agricultural modernization lies in the modernization of agricultural science and technology.

Han Fengxiang hopes that the dividends of science and technology and the benefits of livelihood security will truly reach every field. With the power of technology, she will continue to lead fellow villagers toward a “Happy Road” together.
